My name is Naib Mian, and I’m a writer, editor, and organizer based in New York. I edit essays and articles for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Perspectives and Timeline of Art History, edit the South Asian Avant Garde Anthology, and my freelance reporting has appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation, and Lux Magazine. I’ve also edited book-length projects. Previously, I researched and produced for The New Yorker‘s Interactives department. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I moved to Chicago, where I graduated from Northwestern University, majoring in Journalism and International Studies with concentrations in Computer Science and History. My reporting has taken me from covering education in Chicago to protests and inequality in South Africa to arts and culture in New York City. I’m particularly interested in labor, justice, art, and the intersection between media and new digital platforms. In my free time, I enjoy exploring food, literature, arts and culture. On this site you’ll find a portfolio of my work and my resume. Looking forward to connect!
